President – Wayne Sorensen
President and Owner Wayne Sorenson started SVL Analytical in 1972. Wayne has over 40 years of direct experience with rock, water and soil analysis for the mining industry. Wayne has a BS in Chemistry from Utah State University (1962).
Laboratory Director – John Kern
Laboratory Director John Kern has 28 years of laboratory experience and has managed/directed laboratories in the medical, pharmaceutical and environmental industries. John has a BS in Biochemistry from Eastern Michigan University (1978) and a MS in Chemistry from Montana State University (1982).
Systems Manager – Brandan Borgias
Systems Manager Brandan Borgias has a PhD in chemistry from the University of California-Berkeley (1985). He has held positions at Cray Research, Spokane Falls Community College, and Eastern Washington University. He has been with SVL Analytical since 1991 holding positions as Quality Manager and Systems Manager. He currently oversees the lab’s Information Management System (LIMS) and works with clients on custom reporting and electronic deliverables.
Client Services Manager – Chris Meyer
Client Services Manager Chris Meyer has over 30 years experience with SVL. She is responsible for communicating with clients when establishing projects to ensure project specifications are met and for the majority of project oversight once samples are received for analysis. Chris started her career at SVL as a lab technician. Her experience in the laboratory environment has made her knowledgeable with regard to testing and analytical requirements.
Laboratory Technical Director – Kirby Gray
Technical Director Kirby Gray has 28 years of experience in laboratory operations with regard to water and soils analysis for the mining industry. Kirby has a BS in Geological Engineering from University of Idaho (1972). Kirby is well-versed in all of the instrumental techniques (ICP, ICP-MS, CVAA, AA, etc.) used in the environmental analysis laboratory. Kirby is also lead chemist for CLP and CLP-Like reporting.
Business Development Manager – Dave Waisman
Business Development Manager Dave Waisman spent over 16 years in precious and base metals exploration as a geologist before coming to work at SVL. Dave has a BS in Geology from Colorado State University (1979) and a MS in Geology from the University of Montana (1985). Dave is primarily responsible for sales and understands the environmental concerns of the mining industry.
Quality Assurance Manager – Michael Desmarais
Quality Assurance Manager Michael Desmarais has 15 years of experience in the environmental analysis field. Michael has held positions both at the bench and in the field in environmental chemistry. Michael has a BS in Physical Science from Washington State University (1995). Michael is a participating member of NELAC and is responsible for the administration of the SVL Quality Program.
Coeur d’Alene Lab Manager – Linda Johann
Coeur d’Alene Lab Manager/Microbiologist Linda Johann has 35 years of experience in Microbiology both in environmental and public health (medical) arenas. Linda held positions at the bench and as supervisor for the Idaho State Public Health Laboratory in Coeur d’ Alene. Linda has a BA in Psychology and Chemistry from the University of Minnesota (1970). She is manager and analyst for the Coeur d’ Alene Lab; a section of SVL specializing in biological analyses.
